Simple tools like hammers and chisels of various shapes and sizes are enough to carve the soapstone,or  harder greenish “Chlorite” and pinkish “Khandolite” and the hardest of all black granite .Taking influence from the innumerable archaeological monuments, rock-cut sculptures, caves and temples built for centuries and embellished with the most beautiful and intricately carved statue and other adornments, the art of carving in stone is traditional to the state of Orissa.

Brass sculptures come in gold, bronze and copper patinas and fare well indoors and outdoors.
