Anyone ever have to go to the hospital to get a ring removed (from finger)…what did they do?
My teenage daughter put a ring on her finger (a thick one resembling sterling silver) and we have tried everything to get it off…. not budging. The nurse over the phone said if all else fails, head to the ER to have them remove it. I just wonder what they will cut it off with?

They have a ring cutter that they can use to cut it off. It is like a really small cutoff saw. It has a small saw blade on the end of it with a curved shank that slides up under the ring. The shank is metal and encircles half the blade to protect the finger from getting cut. Depending on how “high tech” the place is, it may be manual or electric. The only difference is the amount of noise they make. It probably takes about 2 or 3 minutes to do and everything will be okay. I have never had one cut off but I have cut off several. Simple and painless procedure. Hope this helps.
