Wax treatment is very common with the turquoise waters of China. Paraffin is impregnated in the turquoise to deepen and stabilize the color, but it only affects the surface.

May be some jewelry with turquoise reconstituted turquoise which is below ground stone is molded with epoxy resin, dyed and pressed into stone like forms – they look good but not the value of real stone.
Another process is called “Block”, where a mixture of plastic resin and dyes are produced in blocks the size of bread. There is no turquoise in this mix, it is crazy and the man must be marked simulated. It is made in many colors, and is widely used for inlay work.
