what would be the best firearm to have in the event of a zombie apocalypse?
i was thinking along the lines of a kalishnakov type rifle as they are so low maintenance. however, they do have a reputation for lower accuracy and heavier weight. suggestions? yes, i know a zombie attack is relatively unlikely, but i figure i could also load it up with hollow-point garlic-tipped silver bullets for use against vampires and werewolves!
I’d skip firearms entirely and go directly to a flamethrower.
The walking dead are, of course, highly flammable, and have an additional tendency to set on another aflame as they shamble around looking for live brains.
This gives you considerably more bang for your buck.
A well centered blast of napalm into the center of a crowd of advancing zombies will ignite the vast majority of them in seconds.
They take a few minutes to drop, but once afire, they can no longer hunt effectively.
The lower jaw tendons and muscles rapidly burn away when torched, so even if the creature goes out, and re-animates, it likely will no longer be able to bite.
That makes smashing in their heads a far less dangerous task.
