Silver-plated brass jewellery: will it tarnish?
I’ve been eyeing a silver-plated brass necklace recently, and it’s a little costly, so I haven’t quite decided whether I should get it or not.
Will it tarnish easily?
Can I wear it to the shower?
If it DOES tarnish, what can I do? If I polish it, will it turn brass-coloured, and the silver plating wear off?

Unless it has been lacquered in some way the silver will tarnish. Water won’t hurt silver or brass. A touch up with silver polish will be needed from time to time. The thickness of the silver will determine how long it takes to wear off, it shouldn’t flake off or anything like that. If the silver wears off you will see yellow or a penny color showing through. It really shouldn’t be costly, it is mostly brass.
