How to change scalextric braids (contacts)?
Yesterday i bought an Aston Martin DB9 scalextric car. I have just used it again today and the car went off the track and one of the braids got torn off, leaving a few normal length strands and some very short pieces sticking through. I have 3 other cars and to change the braids on those you must just pull the plastic contact plate and the whole things comes out, allowing the whole thing to be changed or just the braids, but with the Aston, you can’t remove the braids as there are 2 pieces of plastic obsuring the top part of the braids, and you can’t just remove the contact plate because it is connected to the motor/top piece of plastic (so it seems, I’ve tried pulling it and it doesn’t budge). Have scalextric changed the design of the contacts and if so, how can i change them (i have spare braids and spare contacts for the other system which my 3 other cars have)
For the newer cars the braids are connected to the a plastic disk that sits either side of the slot guide. To change it you need (obviously) a new one of the same type (there should have been a couple with the car). You then slide the circle bit on the car along the length of the slot guide untill it can be lifted off at one end and the new one is fitted the same but in reverse. Hope that helps.

Braid $62.13 A braid is a complex structure or pattern formed by intertwining three or more strands of flexible material such as textile fibers, wire, or human hair.
