How do i get this knot out of my leather reins?
i have a set of split reins for when im riding my horse and i had tyed a knot in the end if them for a novic rider and now the knot is VERY tight, i cant budge it at all, ive tried to put things between the knot to loosen it but it dosent work. any other ideas??
Do not soak the reins. You can use some conditioner to help lubricate the leather so it will smooth more readily.
Also, instead of trying pull the ends free, try pushing the leather through to loosen the know up. Also, you can use in instrument like a dental pick this is smooth and comes to a point to work into the knot to begin loosening it. With patients, you will get it worked loose. Refrain from using your teeth, or trying to force the leather.

As stated in another post, you can damage the leather and weaken it.
There is a way of lacing the reins in a figure 8 type pattern that will loosen easily. Play with it and you’ll figure out a better way to tie them together.
