do jewelry stores engrave ipods for free?

i might be getting an ipod for my bday and im not sure what to engrave on it. any suggestions? also, do jewelry stores engrave ipods for free?
i know the apple store does it free but im asking if jewelry stores do. and do they (the jewelry stores) have a limit on characters?

You only get free engraving if you buy your iPod from Apple at the same time – they do it as a way to entice people into buying an iPod, and the money they make when they sell you an iPod helps them pay for the engraving.

But since a jeweler doesn’t sell iPods, they aren’t going to engrave your iPod for free (even if they did, there’s no chance you would get a free engraving unless – maybe – you bought your iPod there too).

P.S. as far as the limit on characters, it probably depends on where you go. But since it won’t be free, if there is a limit, it shouldn’t be a very restrictive one – after all, you’ll be paying, so you should be able to get whatever you want!
