The Beauty Within Jewelry Boxes
Jewelry boxes have been around for hundreds of years. They have been around for as long as jewelry has been in existence. After all, diamonds are a girl’s best friend, aren’t they? But seriously speaking, when it comes to jewelry and the proper jewelry storage, one of the best options is a jewelry box.
A jewelry box’s basic purpose is being a jewelry storage organizer. If you are one of those people who would like to keep everything organized and structured, a jewelry box is for you. It is usually made up of different compartments, each for a specific type of jewelry – be it earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces, watches, cuff links, or what-have-you. More than this, however, is it’s special quality of containing and protecting our precious jewels. It has always had a special reputation as something delicate and intricately-made, to match the contents inside.
Jewelry boxes are made from various materials, such as wood, silver, porcelain, leather, glass, fabric, plastic, nickel, and even paper mache. It is structured in such a way as to have several divisions – a bigger compartment at the bottom, and several smaller compartments on top. It can be supported by a hinge, opening up the box itself, and the cover can contain a mirror, enameled designs and drawings, or even a musical tune. One of the most popular types are the one which hums a musical melody as soon as you open the cover – with a little glass or paper or plastic ballerina which pops out when you open it to boot. Of course, there are many designs and themes for these boxes, and these decorations and themes are so unique. There are the ever-popular boxes for women and girls, and an emerging trend of boxes for men. Why men, you ask? Well, even men have their own type of small jewelry that can easily get lost if not placed somewhere safe. Have you ever tried looking for a cuff link under the bed or desk? Case closed.
