Have you traveled to India and/or Tibet?
I am considering traveling to various parts of India, not sure what ones yet, and to Tibet, I have always loved Hindu and Buddhist culture, although I am not religious, far from it, however with Hinduism and Buddhism I find it very beautiful, the art the people. India and Tibet seem like absolutally stunning places, great places to just relax, find peace and just enjoy everything around you. Anyone who has traveled to either or both places want to give me any advice on where to go what not to do or anything? Or correct me if I am wrong about how gorgeous they both seem since I have never been there first hand it could not be as great as it seems.
P.S.
I am not going to go to do the typical tourist stuff, I want to experience the culture, not walk around with a brochure treating the country and the people like a zoo, just want to experience the culture and the people

I lived in South India for 9 months (w/my husbands family). Definitely less “touristy” than N India. Mysore was amazing – they have a palace there. Bangalore is very modern. Ooty is breathtaking. We stayed in a lodge in the middle of a jungle & visited a lot of villages where the kids had never seen an American before! I had the pleasure of visiting many temples in Chennai & Hyderabad.
I learned so much & the people are wonderful. Have an awesome trip.
