Embossed Brown

I am making invitations and want cream type on a brown background….?
…Is screen printing my best (only) way to do that?
I was stamping with white ink and embossing with cream powder, but that is taking too long and is toomuch work for 150 invitations. Printers tell me they cannot print on it an that thermography won’t work. They only suggest foil stamping with white foil or possibly screen printing. My daughter does not want whitel Any better suggestions?
Sounds like you need to talk to some different printers. You should be able to pick your paper stock and find the color ink you are looking for from a pantone color swatch book. Photo offset lithography – which is the most widely used press should handle it nicely. If you’re looking for the raised ink effect talk to printers about gravure (engraved) printing. Thermography is commonly used to simulate an engraved piece. Silk screening (serigraphy) can be used as well and the make kits (call around to some art supply stores – like a michaels, AC Moore – or Pearl Paint – if there is one in your area). Silk screening can get a little messy – and it can take some practice to get the results you’re looking for – but have fun with it. If you’re pulling your own screens – remember each invite is an original work of art – those little imperfections you might worry about give it personality. I also says “hand made” and can mean a lot more than a professionally printed piece. Have fun and enjoy the occasion.
