Why are most Mormon Temples in the US constructed in Art Deco style?
It is almost every single one of ‘em….and I don’t get it. Art Deco doesn’t even have any
historic connex to Mormonism or LDS that I’m aware of.
there is one in Stone Oak area, San Antonio, and it’s like looking at the Chrysler bldg. in places, or you feel like you’re in an Ayn Rand story….
Oh a fun question! I dunno. WHOO HOO! 
No, it has no historic connection to the church. My guess is that sometime in the 1970-1980′s, they redid the design structure and it worked. So then they sort of reused most of those designs in every temple. Sometimes local styles are reflected though. But in America, after a certain time-period, Art Deco seems the most prevalent.
Still, one has only to look to Germany and Hong Kong to understand that the temple can look different. And really, just look at some of the historical temples, the older ones, and they aren’t deco. I’m including Logan, Utah and Arizona.
Add: Wow… look at the San Antonio stained glass. Pretty. I wish more temples did that. But yeah, looking over it, that’s pretty Deco stuff. The fountains especially.
