Going on our first cruise for the honeymoon!!!! Seasickness concerns.?

I bought a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise. Me and my fiance have never been on a cruise before. I know they have technology that helps stabilize the boat, but I am a little, and she is more so worried about sea sickness. Any advice on a good medication for sea sickness? I have heard that Dramamine will you make really tired. Is there any better medication? Also I have heard about some kind of bracelet? Any help or advice about either or both is greatly appreciated.

There are several things you can get at your local pharmacy without a prescription, so you might want to go and actually talk to the pharmacist. There are also some pills you can get via prescription that work very, very well — called Promethazine. There is also a patch you put under your ear with, I believe, scopolamine, and that, too, is a prescription item. However, unless you normally get carsick you will in all likelihood have no problem whatever in the Caribbean, which is generally very smooth. I occasionally get carsick but never got seasick, even on the North Atlantic (very rough), until I had to begin taking a flock of prescriptions for heart disease. At that point the seasickness began for me, but only in rough waters, and my doctor gives me a prescription for the Promethazine, which has no problems with the other things I take and which prevents seasickness completely for me.

Many people find that where their cabin is on board ship makes a big difference. The general advice is that a cabin in the middle of the ship is better, and one on a lower deck is better than on a higher deck. One thing, though — you don’t want a deck on the lowest passenger deck, because the very next deck is often the crew deck, and the continual crew announcements can be a noise issue depending on the ship.
