How to get paint to adhere to bare aluminum.?

I am trying to paint bare aluminum blanks made into cuffs. How to you prep the metal to get acrylic and other paints to stay on the aluminum.

There are primers that work for that quite well but sand blasting the surface works great for making paint stick.
